Word of mouth has always been the most effective form of marketing because it comes with a level of trusted recommendation. With the emergence of the social media platform, there are potent opportunities to spread an idea, story or brand instantly and globally.

The Social Web

  • Blogs: People are already talking about you to their friends, family and their fans. We help you get into the conversation in a way that works best for you.
  • Podcasts: The ease of use in communicating through the web has killed the hierarchy of communications, now any one can jump in. Take advantage of your industry knowledge and produce a custom podcast that helps place you in the center of the conversation.
  • Social Networks: Millions of people are already there, and they are sharing, commenting and connecting. Let us help you understand the dynamic of social networks, and the strategies that work best in engaging them.
  • Web Video: A well produced web video is better than any commercial - because you can’t share a commercial (unless it is put on the web…). We can help you understand the dynamic of viral videos and their communities.
  • Mass Collaboration: The wisdom of the crowd in indisputable. 100 people will always be smarter than 1. We can help you see how mass collaboration internally, and even externally can benefit you.

How we help

Founded on the known principles of how social interaction in the real world functions, Contagious Solutions is in a strong position to help organizations establish, develop and grow their online presence to go beyond simple brochures and eComemrce to a very organic and natural conversation about how their products and services are beneficial.

Contagious Solutions uses Web 2.0 technologies, which typically save clients thousands and thousands of dollars in web development. As technology continues to evolve, so will the way Contagious Solutions serves clients. We are about your success and effectiveness, not about a certain technology or platform. If it works better for you, we are on it.

Viral Marketing

by Tony Steward on July 21, 2007

Well, I have a new subject I am interested in. Viral Marketing. It is basically trying to understand how the videos, sites, articles and themes that get insanely popular - do so, and then how to replicate that. It is definitely more art than science (like mass mail), but if you get it right the results are unreal. I think understanding the key to the principles or values of how these things get so popular say a lot about our mood and responses as an online society, and that very much interests me!

So, what do you think makes things popular. Obviously short funny/painful videos from youtube are super popular, but don’t really make a point. What else have you seen or what do you think about viral marketing?

Update

by Tony Steward on July 17, 2007

Things in the Steward family over the past year have certainly been crazy. We have found that there is so much going on at a crazy pace that it has been hard to keep everyone informed as to just where we are at in this journey. So, here is the update email to get you up to speed:

1. Tony is still unemployed: YES, that’s right and frustratingly true (about 10 months now). I still do not have a job, but that is not for lack of processes and opportunities. I am in the process (as I have been for 5 months) in coming on staff at Saddleback Church in Southern California. The job will deal in two major areas, leading a large team of volunteers and directing the use of a specific blog and podcast. We are excited to jump into this, we are still just waiting on the powers that be to do what they do.

2. We are moving: if you’ve followed this blog I just put up a funny post about how we found out we are needing to now move from our condo. This is a good thing though cause trying to fit a family of 5 into a two bedroom condo that is only 970 square feet was getting a little cramped! We are more excited than worried about this and are in the midst of new home hunt!

3. Mandy and Scrap Girls: If it wasn’t my wildly talented wife and her job with ScrapGirls.com we wouldn’t still be out here. God always seems to provide just enough (even if barely) with this, but we are blessed by His providence!

Those are the biggies, if you have questions let me know in the comments!

Bluehost sucks

by Tony Steward on July 16, 2007

Well, the Who Are These Guys Blog is still down because Bluehost is still down. They have been down all weekend, even their main site, bluehost.com, isn’t coming up. Argh! Does anyone have better suggestions for a hosting service that doesn’t cost out the nose?

priceless

by Tony Steward on July 10, 2007

having your landlord call and let you know they are planning to selling your condo once the lease is up in two months - not a problem at all…

having the potential buyer show up 10 minutes later and stop you to ask if there is a balcony? priceless…

by Tony Steward on July 2, 2007

Last night my brother and his wife had their first baby, 7 lbs and 20 inches, little Hannah Jennifer.

Argh, it is hard living so far away from them today. Can wait to see pictures!
