Cox Cable Customer Service = Incompetence

My family and I have just moved into a new home that we love. We live in Southern California, in Orange County - home of plenty of technology usage, planned communities, just south of Disney Land and Hollywood. As we moved into this house Cox Communications has been a bumbling bucket of incompetents in getting our service working.

First they sent the “guy” to activate service at the house. But when we plugged in our router and cable - nothing worked. So, we called support. They said they could send someone out the next day at 10am. “okay” I thought, “Maybe this guy will get it right”.
The next day another “guy” comes. Finds that there is a “trap” on our house which kills the signal to the house. Sort of wondering why the first “guy” completely missed it - since it was in the same box he had to use to activate service. The second guys gets the cable working, and then I ask about the internet. See, the internet is pretty vital because my wife and both work at home. She is a partner in ScrapGirls.com, a digital scrapbooking company, and I am the CEO/Founder of my own Social Media Consulting company Contagious Solutions.
The second “guy” said that fixing the internet was not on his “work order” and that we would need to call Cox and request someone to come fix it - even though he was right there…
So, We call Cox and they say that they can send someone out tomorrow at 10am… hmmm. I tell them that the guy was just here - and they say they “can’t do any better” than tomorrow at 10am.
So, that brings us to today. I was out in meetings and my wife was home when the third Cox “guy” shows up. She said he was here for a long time, talking about levels or something. He finally gets the internet to work and packs up. While he is barely gone the internet goes down again and my wife calls Cox. They tell her that he can’t come back today, and that they can send someone tomorrow. HOLY COW! Counting the weekend that is 5 days we are without services that we are paying for and need and have been told they would fix.
I am sorry COX - if I can find any other solution for High Speed Internet we are going with it. Your incompetence to work with your own line of service and products and complete disregard for us as customers is irresponsible and ridiculous.
So, now I have to go and reset the router every 10 mins or so as it keeps crapping out. While I see strong wireless networks from my neighbors all around - at least five. Guess I will ask what service they use - how much you wanna bet it isn’t COX?
What have you guys used besides cable internet? Any suggestions on DSL, Satellite, or even more professional installations?
